Summer Wedding Story from Belfry Wedding Photographers Stuart James
What a wedding!
2017 is certainly serving up some real gems, and the wedding of Yvonne and Elliot – or should that be Gedz and Sulli? – was just fabulous!
I first met Yvonne + Elliot back in the late autumn of 2016 at the Belfry Bridal Show and hit it off straight away, with our relaxed and natural approach to photographing the wedding putting them both truly at ease. This is something we built upon on the lead up to their wedding with their relaxed engagement shoot around the streets of Digbeth and fortunately with the August weather truly on our side on the day of the wedding, things could not have been better!
Yvonne + Elliot held their wedding at the Abbey Church in Erdington, a church I’ve had the pleasure of photographing at before, and with freedom allowing me to capture the story beautifully on the day, it brought a lovely story of the wedding together.
The reception was at the beautiful Belfry in Wishaw, Sutton Coldfield – a venue that is always a treat to work at!
My coverage of the day started in Sheldon with the bridal party preparations, which with the entertainment provided by the flowergirls, could not have been more fun to be around…
The flowers from Florist of Lichfield were truly stunning! So many little touches made the bouquets something special…
Fabulous touch as Yvonne’s mom’s ring was tied around her bouquet so she was with her all day long…
It’s certainly not every day you get a message from Nadia Rose!
The makeup from Suzie Molloy was just stunning – and I loved the light from her ring-light too! Almost as much as Liam did ;)
As the girls came down to reveal their gorgeous dresses from Asos, and Liam in his suit from Peter Posh, I left Yvonne in the fabulous hands of the hairstylist from Pure Hair as I headed to Abbey Church to see how the nerves of our groom were holding up…
As Elliot headed to the altar to await the imminent arrival of Yvonne in the fabulous Rolls Royce from Phantom Hire, I awaited the moment as our beautiful bride arrived in her fabulous gown from Your Wedding Shop…and beautiful Yvonne truly looked on the arm of her wonderful dad.
I loved capturing the displays of emotion during this procession sequence…
It was wonderful to be given the understanding to be able to capture the ceremony, and with the two side aisles, it was possible to cover the whole church and ceremony discreetly…
From the laughter at the priest to a moment of reflection looking at her mothers ring on her bouquet, the exchange between Yvonne + Elliot was beautiful to witness and capture…
Signed, sealed and delivered, the new Mr & Mrs Geddes!
Such a treat to see blue skies as we arrived at The Belfry…even if we did have to play ‘dodge the showers’ for the family groups!
Although having limited access to the grounds, with the fact golf balls are flying around the place ;) , with a little warm light, it can provide for wonderful bride and groom portraits!
From the drinks reception and family portraits, it was time for the wedding breakfast, with the room beautifully dressed by Design Elegance!
From the ceremonial cutting of the cake, it was over to Keith Prescott to announce the speeches!
Following the rollercoaster of emotions during the Father of the Bride’s speech, it was over to our man of the day, Elliot!
And finally…the speech everyone was waiting for as our best man Sean took the floor…and pitched his speech perfectly!
I do love it when blessed with wonderful warm evening light :)
Following the second cutting of the cake, and the fabulous invasion from Elliot’s mom Terri for a selfie – hilarious – it was time for the first dance!
Got to love random confetti attacks during the first dance!!
What a night it was turning out to be, alas, my coverage came to a conclusion at Ten pm…just time for a couple of signature portraits to conclude the story…
And that was the story of Gedz + Sulli’s wedding day – and what a day it was!
Yvonne + Elliot I truly had the best time with you all capturing your story, and cannot wait to bring your storybook album together with you both! It’s definitely going to be something special!!
