Abbey Church Erdington Wedding Photographer | Lichfield Wedding Photographer at The Old School House
A couple of weeks ago I had the pleasure of photographing a wedding at a combination of venues I enjoyed last year with Donna and James’ wedding taking me to Erdington to the Abbey Church before going on to The Old School House Restaurant in Weeford, Lichfield for the wedding breakfast at the Wyatt Pavilion.
The day started for me in Erdington with Donna and her lovely family at the family home for the final morning preparations, ahead of boarding the stunning vintage transport and heading to The Abbey Church.
When presented with so many excited and happy people – both family and close friends – it really is impossible not to get carried away with the excitement and emotion of the occasion, something that really makes photographing weddings incredibly special…although Donna’s mom’s celebrations and ‘screaming’ when Donna walked down the stair nearly damaged my ear-drums…I think she was a little excited!
Although not quite a first, one of the most unique parts of the wedding of Donna and James at The Abbey Church, Erdington came care of family connections – with the Bride’s brother-in-law conducting the wedding ceremony (his first in fact! Thankfully it went far better than the old Four Weddings scene!), the Groom’s uncle, as a Deacon in the Church, leading the Gospel and also the Mass being carried out by a relative from Manchester, it truly was a special family affair.
There’s something I love about Roman Catholic weddings, with the added symbology, ceremony and moments to capture, but often the additional freedom permitted to photographers to capture the ceremony, leads to stunning wedding photographs.
From the Abbey Church the wedding party headed to the stunning setting in Lichfield, Staffordshire of The Old School House in Weeford – a venue I have always enjoyed capturing weddings at. Blessed with a gorgeous spring afternoon, the setting could not have been more perfect, and from capturing the guests enjoying their drinks reception on the terrace, through to making the most of the improved gardens at The Old School House for the portraits of the Bride and Groom, through to the speeches and the first dance, I really had a fabulous time with Donna + James.
Here’s a little look to their Lichfield wedding photographs.
