Creative and Natural Portraits that Show You as You
As a wedding photographer with a documentary style, the primary focus of my photography is to capture the story of the wedding day.
I like to become a natural part of the wedding, documenting the moments that bring the memories flooding back.
But I also like to take a few minutes at different points of the day, to create genuinely stunning portraits of you both…after all, it’s one day you are sure to look fabulous!
I also believe it’s imperative that these photographs look and more importantly feel genuine. I want the shoot to feel natural, and allow you to connect with each other…so the photos show the true you. As a couple, looking stunning, enjoying the most amazing of days.

Many of my couples book their wedding with me for the reason that they are not photo people, and instead want a real record of their day. But this doesn’t mean they don’t want to look amazing!!
Staffordshire Wedding Photography that is Natural and Relaxed
In the lead-up to the wedding day, I like to spend time with my couples on a relaxed engagement shoot. The pre-wedding session allows us time to explore the idea of being photographed and allows my couples to relax into it. Getting past any initial nerves, any feelings of awkwardness, and just being two people in love. Whether that be laughing with each other, or just enjoying time together, the connection that naturally shows between you is what I am looking for…it’s what I like to capture. Following the engagement shoot, you feel comfortable and at ease being photographed, which allows me to create the best possible portraits in the shortest amount of time on the wedding day.
Creative and Real Wedding Portraits
The portraits on the wedding day aren’t about being forced or creating images that have a particular look. Afterall, for me, the wedding is not a photoshoot. But taking just a few minutes during the day, we can create WOW photos, which tied in with the documentary story, brings the complete narrative together.
Making the most of your stunning location, and capturing you both looking amazing
When you choose a stunning location and the perfect outfit for the wedding day, it is so important to photograph you looking amazing. While this is naturally captured through the documentary story, the few moments taken with you both allows the whole image to be elevated. It enables a little natural direction to ensure you look genuinely perfect, while still feeling at ease.
The wedding is just that…it’s not a photo shoot!
I never like to take my couples away from their guests for an extended period on the wedding day, with usual timings of fifteen to twenty minutes during the second part of the drinks reception, and again for ten minutes around the gorgeous golden hour period. Making the most of the different times of day allows the portraits to look their best, but also captures a different mood at alternate times of the day. Concluding the coverage with our signature night portraits brings the final story to a beautiful end.
Being comfortable in front of the camera is what it is all about. It’s forgetting I’m there and just being you, allowing me to capture you as yourselves…and have a lot of fun in the process.
So while the portraits aren’t the central part of the coverage, they are so important, and without taking over your wedding day, we can create a truly stunning collection of images, that you will cherish for years to come.
