ABOUT STUART

here’s a bit about me!

But first, let’s talk about you

You are beautiful. A relaxed, happy couple who can’t wait to share your day with your favourite friends and family. You’re celebrating your love story, and you want to enjoy every moment with laughter and dancing and dashes of pure loved-up bliss.

You don’t really want to have to break up the fun with an hour-long photoshoot of posed portraits and awkward family groupings. You’d rather mingle with your people, and have your photographer capture natural smiles, family hugs and magical moments – with some stunning romantic shots of you both looking awesome and having an amazing time.

Does this sound like you?

Stuart James – Staffordshire-based wedding photographer

I guess I’m a romantic. There’s something about a wedding that just delights the storyteller side of me. It’s a love story about a couple, but it’s also about the friends and family that support them. When I am your photographer, I dress as a guest and mingle unobtrusively. I’ll be on the dance floor or moving around the room to get all the action shots, putting my heart and energy into taking the photos that, years later, you’ll be able to re-visit to bring back the magic of the day.

That’s not to say we won’t take those important family photos that you don’t want to miss. I know there are some shots that you must have, and we’ll talk them through before your wedding day, so nothing is forgotten.

With my photojournalistic style, you’ll also get more lively, in-the-moment images. A visual story, that features the emotion, the drama, the impact of the day. I love a challenge, so if you plan something more offbeat or energetic as a feature of your day – an unconventional ceremony or an evening of live bands and line dancing – then I’ll be right in the heart of it, capturing that buzz in the story.

Creative freestyle photographer seeks fun-loving couples for the perfect romantic day.

As a bit of an adventurer myself, I love the free style of documentary photography. It allows me to discover and share the people side of the story when everyone is at their most relaxed and natural. It’s those moments that, when you look back, allow you to re-live the day.

When I’m not photographing stories, I am making my own. I love the great outdoors, and while I live in Staffordshire, my heart is most full when I set off in my campervan, pitching up by a lake in Cumbria, climbing a mountain in Wales or hiking in Somerset.

In fact, I’d love to photograph a truly unconventional story –  a wedding on top of a mountain or a proposal abseiling down a cliff perhaps. If you’re looking for a daring and intrepid wedding photographer to work with you, let’s talk!

Documentary, Reportage and Photojournalism – it all ends with a fabulous, freestyle story about

you

I always describe my photographic style as documentary. It means I capture the events of the day in a series of photographs that show the real feelings and natural interactions as they happen. Unposed, without direction from me, and no need to shout ‘cheese’.

Documentary, photojournalism and reportage wedding photography are generally interchangeable terms in the wedding industry, describing the concept of reporting a narrative honestly and authentically.

To me, it’s about telling a beautiful story. I love the natural energy of the day, but I also love being creative with you both, capturing signature images in a quick and relaxed manner. You won’t feel like you’ve been in a photoshoot, but you will have some stunning portraits as a couple that you’ll love to show off.

A HUGE THANK YOU

“Huge thank you for absolutely everything – all the endless help, your professionalism, your recommendations, we just can’t thank you enough!”
