Oxleaze Barn Wedding Photographer
Victoria and Tom first came to talk to me about their wedding after seeing Harriet + Joe’s wedding I captured last December, and as soon as we started talking through their plans, I knew a relaxed documentary approach was going to be perfect for their day.
After spending a little time with Victoria + Tom at Oxleaze Barn on the lead up to the wedding I knew the wedding day was going to be something pretty special, and it certainly did not disappoint!
My morning started with Victoria and the girls at Kenn’s Farm where everyone was getting ready in the converted barn – a fabulous space – with Harriet taking care of the make-up and Amy looking after the girls hair it was a fantastically relaxed atmosphere, full of wonderful emotion and excitement…along with very happy tears when Victoria opened her very thoughtful present from Tom!
After capturing Victoria and the girls getting ready in their fabulous gowns, and documenting one of my favourite moments of the wedding day as the Father of the Bride Andy first saw his daughter as a bride…such a special moment, with Victoria only just managing to hold back the tears, it was off to Cogges to the church of St Mary to capture the wedding ceremony.
Seeing familiar faces with Harriet + Joe and the Rifles boys in attendance certainly added to the feeling, and when seeing a nervous yet excited Groom getting ready to see his bride for the first time, it brought forward again how incredibly special weddings are. And whilst there may not have been tears from Tom as Victoria walked down the aisle to him, the biting-of-the-lip definitely sufficed to show the emotion.
From the church and through the Guard of Honour it was on to the fabulous Oxleaze Barn in Filkins, Gloucestershire. A stunning barn wedding venue set on the border of Gloucestershire and Oxfordshire and one of the most fantastic venues I’ve worked at all year!
After we had planned the wedding afternoon on our meeting before the wedding we made the most of the lovely October weather exploring the fantastic grounds and characterful buildings with the bride and groom, with them both at complete ease in-front of the camera, and just having a fabulous time on their wedding day.
Keeping my couples relaxed on the wedding day, especially during the couple of brief ‘formal’ sections is absolutely key to the photographs I want to capture, and with a natural approach, and keeping everything fun, the true character and personality can shine through…and with a couple as fabulous as Victoria + Tom it is truly a pleasure to create beautiful photographs.
The wedding reception and wedding breakfast set in the marquee in the courtyard of the Oxleaze Barn had a wonderful atmosphere, with the theatre added to with the personal carving of the Beef Wellingtons by individually assigned Rifles Officers at each of the tables – with only a couple needing ‘encouragement’ from the guests to do a better job…
The speeches were as always a huge highlight with the fabulous stories from the two men entertaining the crowd with Andy, the Father of the Bride, bringing many laughs and the odd tear, and Harry, the Best Man and Tom’s younger brother, doing a sterling job!
The evening party soon got in to a fabulous spirit, with the dance floor full from the off…I only wish I could have stayed and captured the whole story til the end.
