Engagement Sessions

What are they? Why are they so important?

Engagement Sessions – what are they?

So you’ve seen ‘engagement sessions’ written about, you may have even taken the time to look at the gallery on the site here, but you still don’t quite ‘get-it’… Hopefully this will clear things up!

An engagement session usually lasts around an hour, time spent getting you used to being directed infront of the camera – and getting used to relaxing too, spending time getting to know each other a little more, and capturing creative and intimate portraits within your chosen setting.

For me engagement sessions serve two purposes – firstly to break any barriers you may feel about having your photographs taken prior to the wedding, and secondly to build a closer relationship between myself as your photographer, and you as my clients.

This makes two wonderful differences come the wedding day – you feel natural and comfortable being directed and having your photographs taken, and I’m not a stranger…

Where would you have yours?

Choosing a location for your engagement session can be a lot of fun – maybe somewhere that has an emotional tie, or a beautiful place you love visiting where you live, or somewhere that says something about you as a couple, the choice really is yours!

I am happy to travel for engagement sessions throughout the country – and further afield, as I did with Suzanne and Andrew to Rome – and have recently spent time in Liverpool, Walthamstow, Shrewsbury and of course Cannock Chase…wherever you want to have your session, we can certainly plan something!

What to do with the photos?

After the engagement session, I always like to present your portraits in a gallery – unless of course we can get together at our studio – and then there are many options of what you can do.
Naturally you can order prints, or indeed the disc of the images, but why not do something a little more ‘interesting’…

Signature Guest Book

Designed from your favourite photographs, with space for your guests to leave you personal messages on your wedding day, the signature guest book is certainly a lot better than an ‘off-the-shelf’ solution.

Signature Guest Frame

Alternatively choose your favourite image, and a stunning frame from our range, and have this presented on the evening of your wedding ready for your guests to leave you heartfelt messages as the celebrations continue. You can then swap the image for your favourite from the wedding and we will finish the framing and presentation of your Signature Guest Frame ready to hang and display.
