Creative Documentary Wedding Photography Story of Lucy + Ed’s Bramshall Wedding
I always smile at the patterns that appear as a wedding photographer. From two marquee weddings in a row to two wedding with a horse and carriage. Each wedding unique – and that’s what makes it so amazing!
Just over a year ago I first met Lucy + Ed, and realised how wonderfully relaxed their wedding was going to be!
Living the village life in Bramshall, they live over the road from St Lawrence’s Church and only a couple of minutes walk from the family home – and hub of the family business!
My coverage of Lucy + Ed’s wedding started with our groom’s finishing preparations ahead of following the boys to the local Farmers Arms!

Giving not only me but the groomsmen a smile, Ed didn’t see the need for a new belt for the wedding:

As Ed’s family and friends began to gather at the house, it wasn’t long before they were picking Ed’s DIY skills apart!!

With the hip-flask full, it was time to head to the Farmers Arms, and for the best man to finally finish his speech!!

Bridal Preparations with Uttoxeter Wedding Photographer
Leaving the boys to enjoy a pint, it was back down the country lanes to the family home.
With preparations well underway, the excitement was building for the bridal party, along with a few nerves too!

I love that Lucy’s mom and dad wanted a photo in front of their trucks!! Proud parents and proud business owners right there.
I must admit though that I don’t normally have this much glamour and style for one of my logistics shoots!

Creative Wedding Morning Photography by Uttoxeter Wedding Photographer Stuart James
The mood as all the finishing touches came together was fabulous. The expressions of both Jane and Andrew made it for me – I do love wedding mornings!

Wedding at St Lawrence Church, Bramshall – Uttoxeter
Leaving Lucy and her dad at home awaiting the horse and carriage, I headed up to capture the arrival of our guests for the wedding ceremony – and to see how our groom was feeling!

Rather hot was the answer.
Lucy looked amazing arriving alongside her dad in the horse and carriage – I just knew Ed would be blown away as soon as he saw her walking down the aisle!

Ceremony Wedding Photography at Bramshall Church
The whole feeling of the day was one of warmth – only echoed and amplified as I met the vicar at the church. I do love a village wedding!
Being given the freedom to capture the ceremony from the front allowed me to document the beautiful moments as Lucy + Ed came together in marriage in front of their friends and family. Such a beautiful ceremony to be part of!

From the great expressions during the recession, it was time for the family photographs ahead of a confetti exit to the Horse and Carriage!

Countryside Marquee Wedding Reception
The setting for Lucy + Ed’s wedding reception was only a few minutes down the road at the farm of Lucy’s grandparents.
Such a stunning setting, with decor inside to make the afternoon special!
I loved the touch of the original butchers’ bike for the wedding table plan – just stunning.

Creative Countryside Wedding Portraits
With the stunning British summer weather we’ve been enjoying bathing us on the afternoon and evening of Lucy + Ed’s wedding, it was fabulous to make the most of the setting for a few portraits with the couple.

Relaxed Candid Wedding Photography
After a couple of fun family photographs – I loved the hay-bale sofa! – it was time to capture the afternoon’s reception.
With the guests embracing the relaxed atmosphere from the start, I knew I was going to have a great time capturing the wedding reception.

From the entrance of our Bride and Groom, it was to the speeches. Although brief, the reaction and emotions were fabulous to capture!

Capturing the Relaxed Afternoon Wedding Reception – Countryside Marquee Wedding Uttoxeter
From the inspired choice of a buffet for the wedding breakfast, it was time for everyone to kick back and relax.
With the sun to soak up and drinks flowing, it was the addition of a bat and ball that provided such great entertainment for the guests!

Unfortunately, while grabbing a couple of photos of the kids on the hay-bales, Lucy’s mom Jane slipped and dislocated her knee. Ever the trooper, however, it wasn’t long before she was back to enjoy the reception!

Relaxed Evening Portraits
During the summer, my favourite time for photographs always comes in the evening.
As the sun starts to fall in the sky, the warmth for photographs is just stunning.
I’d picked this simple location under the tree for portraits with Lucy + Ed, and kept an eye on the lighting waiting for the perfect moment to steal a couple of minutes of their time.

With the arrival of Jane and Andrew, it was time for the arrival of the evening guests and the party to get underway!

From capturing the guests arriving and the kids enjoying the ice-cream, I just couldn’t help myself when I saw some of the most beautiful light I had seen since Sarah + Craig’s wedding last summer – guests to greet or not, I had to make the most of this:

Capturing the guests greeting each other, and the night getting underway, it wasn’t long before the dance floor was full – started by the vicar! Love it!!

As the sun set, it was time for the Bride and Groom to take to the dancefloor for their first dance!

And with that one final portrait, my coverage of Lucy + Ed’s wedding came to an end. But what a wedding it was!
