Mandy + Alan’s Wedding Story by Moat House Wedding Photographers Stuart James
The Moat House in Acton Trussell has long been one of our most popular weddings venues, having photographed countless wedding there over the years, but the one thing that makes each and every wedding special and unique is quite simple – the people!
This was certainly the case with Mandy + Alan’s wedding, as bringing together a couple so intent on having a fabulous time, adding in a fabulous collection of friends and family full of characters, topped with beautiful early summer weather and the wedding day could not have been more perfect.
My coverage for Mandy + Alan’s day started at their house capturing the morning preparations of Mandy and the girls in the hands of Gemma Neville from Dream Bridal Hair and Helen Pearson Wedding Makeup Artist, and despite having to compete with the girls taking countless ‘selfies’ – I’ve never known a group have so much fun with their phones! – the morning set the tone for the day perfectly…a real blast!
One of the most amazing times for me from the wedding came when Mandy first came downstairs to her waiting daughters and family, as when they first saw Mandy in her gown they could not control themselves and their emotion was clear to see and it was such a pleasure to witness, and topped only by the reaction of Mandy’s father when he walked into the room to the waiting girls… Capturing these moments and freezing these memories is what wedding photography is about!
From the house it was to The Moat House where the waiting guests and wedding party were having a fabulous time basking in the summer sun.
The ceremony itself was full of so much emotion, from the anticipation of the entrance, the laughter and tears during the ceremony – highlighted when Mandy called Alan by his middle-name, not his actual name! – and the spirit of the day was clear for all to see and witness.
Thankfully with the beautiful weather staying with us throughout the afternoon, the relaxed portraits of the Bride and Groom around the grounds were a lot of fun, with Mandy and Alan spending most of the time giggling with each other!
From capturing the reactions of the speeches, to the general fun nature of the day, the hilarious ‘choreography’ of the first dance, to the moving dance performance by Mandy’s niece, the wedding was a true pleasure to be part of and to photograph.
