Staffordshire Military Wedding Photos
Storytelling Wedding Photography by Sandon Wedding Photographer Stuart James
There is definitely something I love about military weddings, especially at stunning settings such as Sandon Hall…as seen with Harriet + Joe’s wedding from a couple of years ago! However, add in some gorgeous summer weather and I am even happier!!
Alex + John’s wedding was set for a gorgeous summers day, with a full documentary story from morning preparations into the evening…and it really was something special to capture.
Promised an Alice in Wonderland theme for the wedding, I knew Alison O’Mara was going to create something special…but I was truly blown away when I walked in to the walkway and the saloon at Sandon Hall…it was incredible!
But before we get there, lets head back to the start of the day and to the boys at The Swan, Stafford for their morning preparations.
I almost didn’t want to know what the score was with the best men…….
From the boys preparations, it was soon time for me to head to Sandon Hall for the preparations of the Bride…
Their little one was absolutely the cutest!
I must admit, this was a first for me, as the bridesmaid’s dress was cut to length just minutes before leaving for the church…
How stunning was the combination of the dress and the beautiful flowers for Alex…just perfect!
Leaving the girls it was time to head to the church to capture the guests ahead of the ceremony…
I love capturing this moment as the Bride and the Father of the Bride share a final journey together…
I do love photographing weddings at All Saints Church in Sandon, such a beautiful and intimate country church…
A cheeky kiss ahead of the vows…
From the wonderful expressions as the waiting guests cheered the Bride and Groom down the aisle, it was a confetti exit waiting at the bottom of the churchyard for the newly weds…
From arriving in style in the beautiful Beauford wedding car, it was time to let the couple relax with their friends and family in the gardens of Sandon…
It never matters the time of year, the gardens at Sandon Hall are always quite fabulous for photographs, and I love taking a few minutes with my couples to explore the favourite spots in the afternoon…
From the gardens it was in to the house, to capture the truly stunning displays from Alison O’Mara Floral Design for the Alice in Wonderland theme…just tremendous!
The attention to detail was just fabulous…the table plan, printed in the tiniest font possible, was just genius!!
I do love the entrance for the Bride and Groom in to the saloon down the grand staircase at Sandon; one of the wonderful features of the venue!
After the Father of the Bride’s speech got proceedings underway, it was soon time for the wedding breakfast starting with of course, Green Soup! Genius from Jenkinsons! I do love their attention to detail and creativity, from the pie and mash for Alexa + Rhys‘ London wedding, to the creativity for this wedding, they really are fabulous!
Moving proceedings forward from the guests relaxing during the wedding breakfast, it was time for the main speeches, led off by our groom.
From the perfect blend of affection and entertainment, it was time for the showmen as the Best Men took their turn at the microphone…
Only to be upstaged by a truly wonderful performance by two singers waiters, who really got the party going!! Awesome!!
Following the entertainment of the singers waiters, the guests were treated once again, this time with the fabulous close magic of Chris Peskett; I do love capturing that guy doing his thing!
After a couple of portraits of the couple in the stunning Orangery, it was time to cut the fabulous Alice in Wonderland themed cake, and get the party started with the first dance!
With my scheduled coverage coming to an end, it was only right to take a couple of minutes with Alex + John to create a couple of truly stunning portraits to conclude their story… They just happened to be some of my favourite images of the year too!
Alex and John, I have to say what a fabulous time I had capturing your day from start to end, it was just fabulous!
The attention to detail, and creativity in the theming of the day was right on, and set your day apart in my mind for some years to come.
I’m so glad I got to share your day, and document your memories for you.
It was also great to be working alongside the fabulous Zeus Films for the wedding, with Andy + Stefan capturing a truly stunning film for them. You can read more about the day from Andy and Stefan here, but here is their Sandon wedding video. Without doubt, my first recommendation for anyone looking for a wedding video! I love working with these guys!!
