A Moat House Winter Wedding Story by Stafford Documentary Wedding Photographer Stuart James
A wedding in the planning for a little under a year, bringing together their families and friends to celebrate their day with their two beautiful children Noah and Niamh, Nicola + Mitchell’s wedding was always going to be a treat to be part of…and it didn’t disappoint.
Following the beautiful weather that we enjoyed with Jess + Matt, unfortunately the ‘weather gods’ were not quite so gentle on Nicky + Mitch, deciding instead to ‘bless’ their wedding…but the weather could not alter what was a truly perfect day!
Chilled out and relaxed from the start, with Niamh having the right idea about how to spend the wedding morning – lying back on the bed eating crisps and watching a DVD – the atmosphere with Nicky and her girls was beautiful to be around. Definitely one of the most chilled out brides I have known on a wedding morning!!
With the hair and makeup taken care of by Nicky’s bridesmaid Estelle the relaxed mood flowed throughout the room, only added to when the emotions started to flow as the big moment came closer…
Emotions were certainly flowing all day long during the wedding, something so touching to witness and capture…
From our teary groom, the girls all getting a little choked-up before and during the ceremony, and the tears brought during Dean’s fantastic Best Man’s speech, there was so much to witness and capture…it really was somewhat of a feast!
Nicky + Mitch kept the whole feel of their wedding incredibly relaxed throughout the day, with beautiful elegant and natural styling from Design Elegance setting the Acton Suite of the Moat House off perfectly.
I had to smile too when I saw Nicky’s beautiful cake from Amerton Cakes, as the similarity in their cake and the matching nature to Nicky’s dress from Nobel + Wright of Leics was so similar to my beautiful Bride Beki’s dress…and indeed our cake from Amerton! :)
The touches and styling added to the whole day from the flowers by Lavender and the fantastic suits from Peter Posh, the styling could not have been more spot-on!
With the inclement winter weather on the wedding afternoon, we made use of the fabulous Library for the family photographs before the smallest gap in the weather opened just before the meal…when together with Dean as our official umbrella man, we headed out to the grounds of The Moat House before the wedding breakfast.
Everyone played such a special part in making sure the day went perfectly…from the girls in the morning looking after Nicky, the fabulous work by Dean and the ushers helping me organise the family photographs, and the couple themselves for being so relaxed and wanting to just have the most perfect day! But it has to be said…the stars of the day were definitely Noah and Niamh…so much fun to photograph as children often are!
I had such a fabulous time with Nicky, Mitch, their friends and families on the day of their wedding…and it really was a true pleasure bringing this story together for them.

Thank you so much Nicky and Mitch for entrusting the capturing of your memories from your most special day. I had a truly wonderful time with you all, and cannot wait to see you again at Dean + Charlotte’s wedding next summer!
