St Matthews Church + Packington Moor Lichfield Wedding
Walsall Wedding Photographer
The old saying ‘Everything Happens for a Reason’ is a motto I believe in…and it certainly rang true with Crissi + Roger’s wedding too, as if it were not for us standing at a bridal fayre in Walsall – for the first and probably only time at that fayre! – and Crissi and her mom coming to find us, our paths would never have crossed… It was also quite strange when it turned out very close friends of the family recommended another photographer who had captured their day quite a few years ago…my father, Barry James! Such an incredibly small world!! And to say the match was perfect…well I think the photos say it all…
Crissi + Roger’s day was a truly quite perfect with amazing April weather blessing the day!
I loved how the tone was set for the day from my arrival…greeted by Crissi in a rugby jersey, eating a bacon sandwich! Brilliant!
Crissi along with her Bridesmaids Alix and Sam were being looked after by Tracy incharge of makeup, but it has to be said, the show was stolen completely with the arrival of Caleb – Crissi + Roger’s little boy!
The piano serenade was a particular highlight!
The whole preparations at home had such a relaxed feeling…could not have asked for more…
With Crissi, her sister Alix, Mother of the Bride Sara and the two flower girls Pippa and Bella it was always going to be a female dominated house…little wonder that Father of the Bride Garry took refuge in the lounge and left them to it…
With a wedding with so many ties to Rugby, it was a shame to not include a few details throughout the morning…I was only slightly jealous of some of the games Liam had been to!
After the finishing touches with Sam upstairs, it was time for the grand reveal…
I think Gary’s expression says it all…
Leaving the girls to enjoy their bubbles, it was time to head to St Matthews Church to catch up with the boys, suited and booted by the fabulous Duncan James Menswear.
I was also really glad to see that Roger hadn’t ended up scarred from the game of rugby the day before the wedding either!!
It was great to be working alongside Special Day Services on the day, and it has to be said, the cars were truly gleaming in the afternoon spring sunlight.
Time for the ceremony, and having complete understanding from the vicar allowed me to capture all of the photographs I could have wanted during the ceremony, capturing each natural moment, with the expressions that really told the story of the moment.
Such fabulous expressions as Crissi and Roger took their first steps as Husband and Wife
I think it’s safe to say, the shoes were a hit!
A confetti exit to the waiting cars to take the bride and groom to the reception at the stunning Packington Moor.
Packington Moor has long been one of my favourite venues to capture weddings at and I will certainly enjoy every chance I get to visit there this year…and just hope, the plans for the future change in time to safe the stunning setting…
Making the most of the stunning weather, it was off into the fabulous gardens with the Bride and Groom for a relaxed portrait session ahead of getting the celebrations well and truly underway!
And although it seemed a little too much for one little man…everyone else had a fabulous time enjoying the drinks in the courtyard with the beautiful sun beating down…
I always love to see the individuality each and every couple bring to the styling of their wedding, and I loved the colours and simplicity that Crissi brought to the Oat Barn for their wedding breakfast…
With a predominant rugby crowd, the wedding was always going to get underway quickly, but with all those characters to capture, I was certainly not complaining!
After the fabulous meal – I do love a wedding with Galloping Gourmet – it was time for the speeches, which were always going to be entertaining…
When we were on the pre-wedding shoot leading up to the day, I got to know a little about the story of Crissi + Roger, and also Gary’s involvement too…as without him asking Roger to come back and play his rugby at Walsall after university, things may never have happened how they did.
Also, as Roger’s old PE teacher…there were surely a few stories that could have come out of the closet…
Following Gary to the floor, came the man of the day, our groom Roger, who took everyone on a journey from laughter, to emotional, and pretty much everything in between…great job sir!
And last but not least, a fabulous though short speech from our Best Man, Danny!
From the formalities of the afternoon, it was time to cut the cake – which looked absolutely stunning from Oh Sugar! Cakes of Walsall – and get the party started with the fabulous Four on the Floor Wedding Band!
And to conclude the story, it was time to bring the couple outside from the quite fabulous party, and get the flashes out for a little creative portraiture…
And that brings the story to a close…
It’s a pity I wasn’t there for the “Ties around the head” shots, or indeed the rugby chants that concluded the night after the band had finished and the lights came up, but for the time I was there, Crissi + Roger, I had a truly fabulous time!
Thank you for entrusting the capturing of your day to me, and I am delighted you’re as happy with the story as I am :)
