What a year 2014 was, and to complete the year I got to spend the day and night with the most amazing group of people, some of whom I’d met a few days previously in Edinburgh, for a wonderfully personal wedding celebration, and one great party to see in the New Year!
Katie and Simon are such a fabulous couple, and with all the great organisation from Katie’s mom Helen looking after the day, it meant the couple could fly in from Sydney to have the most amazing time, without the stress and drama of trying to sort their wedding from the other side of the world!!
I first met Katie and Simon a couple of days before Christmas to sit down and talk about both their Edinburgh wedding, and of course their Sandon Hall wedding on New Years Eve, and I knew the whole day was going to be absolutely fantastic and indeed a great way to see in 2015…and the day did not disappoint.
Starting off in Milwich at Helen’s lovely home capturing the morning preparations of Katie and her bridesmaids, the atmosphere was absolutely superb to be around, and capturing the relaxed happiness and the characters of everyone at the house, before the day moved on, rather treacherously over the frozen snow on the ground, to Sandon Hall and the waiting groom and wedding party.
As the couple had actually tied the knot a few days previously in Edinburgh, the ceremony in the Library at Sandon Hall was a little different, as Katie’s brother led their celebration, with the couple making their own personal vows and promises to each other in a very emotional setting.
The afternoon continued in a wonderfully relaxed way, with all the guests enjoying the setting and sharing the day with Katie and Simon. With friends and family flying in from around the world, including Simon’s best man and also his old flat mate from Australia – without whom Katie and Simon would never have met! – and close family members from around the country.
Every single wedding I get to share and capture is incredibly special, but with seeing in the New Year with Katie and Simon, it is certainly a wedding that will live long in the memory.
