831…eight letters, three words, one meaning…and one hell of a wedding story!
I met Sarah + Gav for the first time at one of the Moat House Showcases, and as soon as we got talking I really felt we ‘gelled’…and I knew we were going to have a great time together!
On the lead up to the big day, I got to spend a great afternoon with the couple at a venue unique setting for their pre-wedding shoot…the Severn Valley Railway.
I loved the story behind the railway as a backdrop… Sarah + Gav met at uni, but they lived at different ends of the country. Hence, for so many months and even years, spent time travelling to see each other…plus, there was another motive. Gav loves sweets! And in Bewdley, there is one of his favourite sweet shops! The phrase “kid in a sweet shop” definitely came to mind when we got there!
Anway, back to the day at the Moat House and what a truly special day it was!
My coverage for Sarah and Gav brought me to the Moat House to capture the morning preparations of Sarah and the girls, who after having their hair looked after by Emma and Caoire from Indulgence, had many laughs with their own makeup…especially for a couple of the girls!
Sarah’s maid-of-honour was her sister Nicola – whose wedding (…not that there’s even an engagement ring there yet!) I would love to photograph…who wouldn’t love a few days in Vancouver?! – and the closeness between them, and the girls who have been close friends for so long, really brought an intimacy to the morning…
Ahead of Gav and the boys arriving, here’s the start of the wedding story from The Moat House on what was a truly stunning summers day!
The moment the Mother of the Bride pops a bottle of champagne…and nearly takes off the head of the hairdresser!!
Love the reactions from these guys as they opened their cards and super thoughtful gifts from our Bride and Groom…
Perfectly on time, our groom and the boys arrived, complete with their suits from Youngs and of course the kilt for our Scottish groom from Anderson Kilts.
The mood with the boys was as fun as with the girls…just with a little less emotion on display!
Leaving the boys, I headed back to the girls, with our bridesmaids looking spectacular in their dresses from Berketex, in perfect time to capture our beautiful bride being helped into her gown by the girls…and only a little amount of nervousness on display…
Just stunning…
From the relaxed atmosphere in the Acton Suite, the emotions were definitely building upstairs as the Father of the Bride saw Sarah for the first time, and they all headed to the ceremony…
From being super cool, as Nicola came down the aisle the emotion really hit for Gav…only built on as Sarah came down the cream runner carpet…
Just loved this!
From the emotion of the ceremony, it was time for the guests to greet the new Mr & Mrs, and enjoy the fabulous piper bringing that Scottish feel to the day!
From the drinks reception and after being attached by confetti, it was time to explore the grounds with the couple, making the most of the stunning day we had!
The Acton Suite looked fabulous for the wedding breakfast decorated by Design Elegance, with stunning flowers by Lavender.
Following the wedding breakfast, and a lovely break in the sun! it was time for the speeches. Always a favourite period of the day to capture…I just knew the speeches from these guys was going to be pretty special!
Following the speeches, it was only right to grab a couple of minutes with Sarah + Gav to make the most of the gorgeous golden evening light. Heading for a short walk towards the church, it was into the cornfields for a couple of minutes ahead of the evening reception.
From the drinks reception on the terrace, it was soon time to get proceedings underway again, starting with the cutting of the fabulous cake from Amerton Cakes – I do love those guys! – before handing over to Something Acoustic for the beautiful first dance. The performance from Something Acoustic really was quite amazing…make sure you hit the slideshow at the end of the post to hear their beautiful rendition of 500 miles…it blew me away!
My coverage, unfortunately, came to an end all to soon on Sarah + Gav’s day, and as the evening was getting underway, my coverage came to a conclusion. However, I had to make the most of the gorgeous clear night with the couple out in the grounds to finish their story…
And that was that. What a day!
One of my weddings from the year for sure, and a wedding that will be a showpiece for many years to come!
Sarah + Gav, you are two of the most amazing people I’ve had the pleasure to meet, and sharing your day felt quite amazing. Two people full of love and warmth, and so much fun, your day was just the best! Thank you!
As mentioned, here is the slideshow with live recorded music from Something Acoustic.
