One of the things I have always loved about my job as a wedding photographer is not only the individual stories of each wedding, but the immersion in other cultures and experiencing and documenting the beautiful moments that each have their own story.
I have had the pleasure of witnessing many different cultures and traditions over the years, but the welcoming nature of the Hare Krishna Temple, Bhaktivedanta Manor in Watford really was something special.
I first met Chris a few years ago when I photographed his sister’s wedding at The Holy Trinity Church, Sutton Coldfield and it really was great to see Marie and James’ and their families again this year, and indeed see their growing family too!
Come the day of Ashti + Chris’ wedding my wedding day started capturing Ashti’s preparations with her parents at home in Harrow, in the fabulously relaxed atmosphere – seemingly sponsored by tea! – before we all moved to the temple for the ceremonies.
The Bhaktivedanta Manor is quite a stunning setting, and as the UK base for the Hare Krishna Movement, is a truly setting to host the most important days.
Being surrounded by stunning grounds with the backdrop of the tudor style building, the photographic opportunities are endless, but for me it was the beautiful and important moments during the ceremonies of the wedding that provided the most interest and intrigue when documenting Ashti + Chris’ wedding.
With the ceremonies being led by one of the most accommodating priests allowing me the freedom to document the true moments of the day, from the intimate Ganesh Pooja to the building of the excitement with the Milni ceremony before heading to the Mandap for the wedding ceremony.
Throughout the day the warmth and inclusion from the temple and from the families was truly inspiring to witness and document, with the excitement and fun had by both sides of the family clear to see.
So many colours, so many moments, and so many opportunities to capture beautiful natural wedding photographs, I really was spoilt when capturing Ashti + Chris’ wedding.
Here is a more in-depth look at Ashti + Chris’ wedding at the Bhaktivedanta Manor Hare Krishna Temple Watford.
