Birmingham Greek Wedding Photographers – Greek Orthodox Weddings Birmingham
Over the last 20 years, I have had the pleasure of photographing many weddings – and many Greek weddings!
The last time I had fun in the Greek community was the wedding of Stella + Steve, and I couldn’t wait for Kat + Jimmy’s big day!
On the lead up to their wedding at the Greek Orthodox Cathedral of the Dormition of Theotokos & St. Andreas and The Belfry, I got to spend an evening around Brindley Place with the couple. Getting to know each other a little better, and getting over any “photo nerves”, I knew it set us up for the best of times come to their wedding!

The plans for Kat + Jimmy’s wedding were fabulous. An intimate (on Greek standards!) wedding, in a stunning setting, and with a gorgeous couple – this was going to be fun!
It goes without saying that Kat looked stunning on the wedding day, and the dress from The Wedding Club was amazing! Claire, one of Kat’s bridesmaids, styled the hair with Rachelle Grimes on makeup duties. Jimmy’s face, when he saw Kat at the altar, says it all!
Our coverage of Kat + Jimmy’s wedding began with the morning preparations of Kat ahead of the Stolisma in the Ryder Suite.
Whilst the girls were enjoying a gin or two, the teams from Design Elegance, Flower Design of Lichfield and The Aspiration Group were ensuring the Woodland Suite looked amazing!
Perfect timing on delivering the flowers from Jimmy – just ahead of Kat taking the chair with Rachelle!

Whilst I was with Kat and the Bridal Party, Stephen was ready to capture the arrival of the guests for the Stolisma of Jimmy.
I’ve always loved capturing the ceremonies and traditions of Greek weddings. However, having the great light and amount of space for Kat + Jimmy’s stolisma in the Ryder Room really was a treat!
Storytelling Wedding Photography
Kat was already looking beautiful all morning, but as soon as she dressed in her gown – wow! I think we were all ‘gob-smacked’ – especially Kat’s waiting friends when they saw her!
Photographs of the Stolisma Ceremony
The reaction from the guests waiting for our Bride as she entered the Stolisma was beautiful!
So many gorgeous moments during the traditional ceremonies and a few tears shed. However, when the ceremony concluded with a little impromptu dancing, it really set the tone for the day!!
Wedding at St Andrews Greek Orthodox Church, Birmingham
The Greek Orthodox Cathedral of the Dormition of Theotokos & St. Andreas has always been a fabulous church to photograph in. With the beautiful light from the chandelier, and so much space to make the most of, I’ve always loved the scope for capturing the ceremony.
From the arrival of the guests and bridal party, to the journey down the aisle, to the traditional symbolic moments during the ceremony, there really is so much to capture!
Wedding Photos at The Belfry
From the beautiful ceremony, family photographs and exit to a confetti bombardment, it was back to The Belfry. Lady Luck was most certainly on our side, allowing us to leave the rain behind and make the most of the stunning setting at The Belfry for our Bridal Portraits – ahead of the storms arriving!
With only a couple of locations available at The Belfry for portraits, it’s all about maximising your opportunities, but a couple as much fun to photograph as these guys, we didn’t need anything else!
Greek Wedding Reception – Woodlands Suite – The Belfry
The Woodland Suite looked absolutely incredible for the wedding reception of Kat + Jimmy. The tireless efforts of Design Elegance and Flowers of Lichfield really were worth it – the best I’ve ever seen the place look!
With the violinist leading the bride and groom into their waiting guests, the atmosphere was amazing to witness and capture. From the journey around the floor, cutting of the amazing cake, and blessing by the priest, it was soon time to get the party started!
I love how quickly the night went into FULL swing – these guys knew how to party!!
Greek Wedding Dance – The Money Dance
The traditions really do just keep on coming with Greek weddings, and from clearing the whole floor with the bouquet toss, it was soon time for the Wedding Dance, or as it’s known, the Money Dance!
From the money dance, it was over to the parents before the Koumbaros took over the floor!
Creative Photography of the Wedding Reception
With the party in full swing, it was fabulous to be right in the middle of everything capturing the spirit of the night.
A truly special evening to be part of!
Kat + Jimmy, it truly was an honour to capture your wedding – one incredible and very special day!
I cannot wait to bring the complete story together with you in the next few days!
