Frequently Asked Questions

ANSWERING THE QUESTIONS OFTEN ASKED BY OUR COUPLES
Have a burning question you need the answer to?
Hopefully I have covered most things below, however, should you have anything you want to know, simply drop me a message.

You are based in Staffordshire, do you travel elsewhere?

Absolutely! Whilst most of my weddings are within the Staffordshire area I happily travel across the UK, and accept a limited number of overseas commissions each year.

How would you describe your style?

My style is very focussed around Documentary Photography, telling the story of the wedding day, creating a narrative that shows the emotion and love between you and your family, recording the memories of the day for all time. However, that is not to say I do not take posed photographs, especially of my couples, when I like to create modern and relaxed portraits utilising the setting of the wedding. However, these sessions do not take over the day, usually requiring only around 20 minutes of your time, the rest of the day I would prefer to capture your story as you enjoy yourselves with your friends and family…after all, it’s a wedding, not a photo shoot!

What preparations do you make before our wedding?

I have been photographing weddings for over 15 years, and with that experience comes an understanding of the levels of preparation required. From planning the route, covering all possibilities with equipment and backups, and of course talking with you during our meetings to find out how YOU want YOUR day to flow.
With this information I work closely with your venue to ensure your day runs perfectly, ensuring you have the day of your dreams, and the photographs to tell that story.

Do you offer engagement shoots?

I love engagement shoots, and I find these to be a fabulous investment in the strength of your wedding images.
Many of my collections include engagement shoots, following which you can choose to order prints or indeed digital versions of the files on USB.
These shoots can be scheduled any time up until your wedding, and at the location of your choice.

Do you take group shots?

Whilst a documentary nature of photography will capture the complete story of your day, group photographs still have their importance, and I usually create these during the drinks reception, taking around eight to ten photographs.

How many photos do we get for our wedding?

Well, that depends…mainly on how long I am with you on the day, but also how much fun you and your guests are having!
Typically I present a minimum of 400 images up to 800 images for a full days coverage.
These images are all presented online in a secure online gallery and brought together in a beautiful storytelling slideshow.

Can you provide a second photographer?

I normally work alone, preferring the minimal impact a single photographer has on the day. However, I can provide an excellent second photographer for larger weddings or for those couples who really want that. There is, of course, an additional charge for this.

What happens after the wedding?

Following the wedding, the creativity doesn’t stop… From the images captured on the wedding day, your story is put together and edited with our blend of Colour and Black & White imagery and prepared to share with you and your friends and family.
I like to share your photographs with you via the blog and of course the storytelling slideshow, and hopefully, we can then get together at our studio to talk through the wedding album design, finalising your story exactly as you see it.
Typically it takes less than four weeks to see your initial story on the blog and the slideshow, with finished albums, ready six weeks after you have agreed their design.

Are you insured?

I am completely insured against all eventualities, and also have a wide network of support should anything happen to me in the run-up to your wedding day.

What kit do you use?

I currently shoot on Fuji X-T2 cameras with a selection of fast prime lenses and zoom lenses. Utilising off-camera flash to create stunning lighting for portraits and dancing. Backup equipment is always on-hand during the day should anything happen. I also always shoot on two cameras throughout the wedding day, each with a backup card system for peace of mine.
