Erasmus Darwin House Wedding Photographs
Creative Storytelling Wedding Photography of a beautiful intimate Lichfield wedding
Rebecca and Pete only came to me for their wedding what seems like a few weeks ago…but I’m sure glad they did! After having to change their initial plans for their wedding next May at Ardencote Hotel in Warwickshire due to baby on the way, it was to Erasmus Darwin House in Lichfield for a beautiful intimate wedding.
Come Saturday morning, the gorgeous summer weather we’re enjoying stayed with us, blessing the day with perfect conditions!
The story for me started at lunchtime at the beautiful, and very characterful, Netherstowe House in Lichfield, capturing the preparations of our bridal party…
Netherstowe really is a stunning venue, and I just couldn’t resist grabbing a few frames of the character of the place before the story started to unfold with the bridal party.
The bridesmaids totally got on the ‘arranging’ of the details, so it would have been rude not to capture them alongside telling the story of the morning…
One very well organised wedding…the spreadsheet was fabulous ;)
A great, ‘what do you think?’ moment as Rebecca reveals the makeup to her bridesmaids.
The dress Rebecca chose from wed2b was absolutely perfect, and complimented wonderfully by the Bridesmaids gowns from ChiChi!
Always a favourite moment of the day, as the Father of the Bride arrives :)
Finishing touches…
From the character of Netherstowe, it was to the wonderfully historic Erasmus Darwin House, just a few short steps from the famous Lichfield Cathedral.
The atmosphere at Erasmus was so relaxed, it was great to capture the guests arriving and enjoying the setting, ahead of the arrival of our bridal party…
With both the flowers and the suits from Marks & Spencers, everything came together perfectly!
It was soon time to head in to the newly refurbished Inventions Room for the ceremony as our Bride arrived…
It couldn’t have been timed ‘better’ for the ceremony with the sun moving round to beam through the windows just minutes before the ceremony time…if only I hadn’t had to stand in the window for the photos… Suddenly a dark coloured waistcoat became an interesting choice…
Enjoying a couple of minutes together in The Parlour, the guests all assembled for the confetti exit of the newly married Mr & Mrs Trickey!
Just about managed to squeeze everyone in for the obligatory big group shot!
After letting everyone relax after the few family group photographs we captured in the herb garden, I took our Bride and Groom away for a few minutes to The Cathedral before utilising the beautiful backdrop of Vicars Close for select relaxed portraits.
The timetable for the day that Rebecca + Pete planned was truly perfect, with the late afternoon ceremony leading in to a very relaxed evening. Allowing the guests time to enjoy the setting, relax with a beer, and catch up with friends, the whole day had a fabulous vibe…
Bringing everyone back together just before the evening guests arrived, it was time for the speeches, led by the Father of the Bride, Ian.
Before it was the turn of our groom to thank everyone…
And following the two ‘warm-up acts’, it was the speech that everyone was waiting for, as Richard the Best Man mixed emotion and entertainment perfectly!
After leaving everyone to relax for a while, and whilst waiting for the arrival of our guitarist to get the party started, I took the opportunity to head off with our bride and groom to the nearby Beacon Park.
After the relaxation, it was time to get everything underway for the evening, starting with the cutting of the cake – made by Rebecca’s mom Lorna – and into the first dance.
From the emotional scenes capturing the Father and Daughter dance, it didn’t take the guests long to get the party underway!
The heat of the day soon started to defeat a lot of people, choosing to grab salvation in the gardens… Isabella, however, did her very best in grabbing as many people as possible back to the dancefloor! Good work!!
It was fabulous that for the final half hour the party truly got underway, just a shame there was a ten o’clock curfew as I think these guys were just getting started!
And to bring the story to a close, it was time to get creative and utilise the wonderful doorway at the front of the House.
What a story! Thank you for inviting me to capture your day Rebecca + Pete, I had such a great time with you all and I hope this story brings as many smiles to you both as it did to me creating it…
