I first met Lucy twice within a few hours at two very different settings – firstly as a guest at Katie + Matt’s Patshull Hall Wedding, then at a friends BBQ! Such a crazy small world!!
I know Rich’s family well through his sister-in-law Sue, so it was with the extra connection I was particularly looking forward to their big day. Oh, and the fact they held their wedding at one of the best wedding venues around! I adore weddings at The Ashes.
When Lucy + Rich got in touch as they were bringing the plans together for their wedding, they looked at several options for their day. From the idea of a ceremony at Penkridge Church and a Tipi Reception, they opted for the perfect setting of The Ashes at Endon. Bringing their friends and family together for one amazing day, their wedding had it all!!
From the relaxed morning preparations to the full-on-party, from the little touches that made the day truly theirs, to the amazing musician. With the summer weather on-side, Lucy + Rich’s wedding was a blast to be part of – and not a bad way to be spending my wedding anniversary either!
Ashes Wedding Photographers
The countryside setting of The Ashes has long been a favourite venue! From driving past the cornfield and the lakes, to the stunning barns, it really is a venue that has it all!
The new dressing room is the perfect space for the bridal party’s preparations. With space for hair and makeup, it’s a great area for the girls to bring everything together and only seconds walk from the ceremony barn!
Lucy was so incredibly relaxed, and with hair and make-up taken care of, the mood for the bridesmaids and the flower-girls was brilliant to capture.
Getting ready at a nearby hotel, Rich arrived with his best man and son Finley suited and booted to perfection!

It goes without saying that the stars of the day were definitely the kids!
Lucy + Rich’s own children Evelyn + Finley along with their nieces Eleanor and Olivia really were fabulous all day long. I love this image I captured of the girls as they waited ahead of the ceremony together.
Ashes Barn Wedding Ceremony
The West Barn at The Ashes was the stunning setting for Lucy + Rich’s ceremony.
As our guitarist performed from the balcony, the mood was set for a beautiful and emotional ceremony.
With Lucy on the arms of her father and steo-father, it was Rich who was the most emotional as soon as the music started.
It certainly took me back to our wedding day…
It was time for Fin to shine as he brought the rings forward for Lucy + Rich – such a beautiful moment!

From the brilliant rendition of The Fierce Dinosaur read by Lucy’s brother, it was time for the first – and fabulous – journey as husband and wife to the cheers from their guests!
Wedding Portraits at The Ashes Endon
From the drinks reception in the courtyard, and the family photos on the lawns, it was time to spend a little time with our bride and groom making the most of the beautiful setting.
With the character of the house, and the beauty surrounding the lake, it really is a wonderful place for portraits of the bride and groom.
Lucy looked absolutely incredible in her dress and with Rich looking very dapper in his suit and contrasting waistcoat, I loved capturing a few portraits of them both.
Candid Photos of the Courtyard Drinks Reception
With the beautiful summer weather adding to the day, it was wonderful to capture the guests relaxing and enjoying the drinks reception in the courtyard garden. The live music from the singer / guitarist really did bring a wonderful atmosphere!
Wedding Breakfast in the East Barn at The Ashes
The barn for the wedding breakfast is such a great space. With so much character, little decoration is needed to set a stunning scene.
One of the most wonderful moments of the wedding day, has to be as the bride and groom walk into the wedding breakfast to their waiting guests! With the smiles, cheers and adulation from the guests – such a great moment, and Lucy’s face here is brilliant!!
Wedding Speeches Photographs
Capturing the speeches is always a highlight of the wedding day!
With two Father of the Bride speeches opening proceedings, we were set for a great session.
Proceeding Rich taking the floor with a very entertaining speech, it was over to Finley for a heart-wrenching speech he’d prepared before it was over to the best man.
Creative Evening Portraits at The Ashes
With the stunning countryside setting, and the last embers of stunning light, I just had to steal a few moments with Lucy + Rich!
Capturing the Spirit of the Nighttime Celebrations
As night drew in, there was only one thing left – an amazing party!
With the kids already getting down on the dance floor, from the cake cutting it was straight into the dancing with Lucy + Rich opening the floor soon followed by the guests. It was all set for a great night!
With so many characters the dance floor was never empty – I think it’s safe to say everyone had an amazing night!
