When you have a new venue as stunning at Breadsall Priory, and a gorgeous couple, you know you’re in for a great day!
From the moment Emily + Russ booked me for their wedding at Breadsall Priory, it was a wedding I was looking forward to. Only added to after we had an absolute blast on their engagement shoot at the beautiful Calke Abbey.
While my first visit to Breadsall Priory, after looking around on arrival, I knew I was going to be spoiled with options!
With the stunning weather we enjoyed in August staying with us, the day was seriously on our side. In fact, it was almost too hot, especially for the girls getting ready!
Breadsall Priory is a venue with stunning character and with the size and design of the site, despite it not being private for the wedding, it was fabulous to feel it was! Also, I must say – the staff are excellent!!

Breadsall Priory Wedding Photographers
My coverage of Emily + Russ’ wedding began with the final preparations for the bridal party.
Set in one of the stunning bedrooms in the manor house, Emily already looked stunning when I arrived. With the fabulous attention from Gill from G M Hairdressing on hair and Heather Jones on makeup, everything was coming together beautifully. I do think the most significant addition to the room at this time, however, was the multiple fans! It was one hot room!
Leaving the bridal party to their preparations, I headed off to see how our groomsmen were getting on. I found them in the bar – relaxed and chilled about to head to get dressed!
With the preparation slowly coming together for the boys, and Russ’ dad Mark proving he can use an iron, it was back up to the girls:
Emily’s dress was absolutely stunning and truly perfect for her! Being complimented perfectly by the bridesmaid’s gowns, the theme came together amazingly!
It was beautiful to see the day suddenly feeling real for everyone as the last details came into place, one beautiful period of the bridal preparations to witness and to capture.
Wedding at Breadsall Priory
As the groomsmen greeted our arriving guests, with the help of Gill and Emily’s mom Julie, it was time for the stunning gown!
The reaction from the bridesmaids and indeed the Father of the Bride does say it all!!
With emotions peaking, for both our Bride and Groom, it was time for the beautiful ceremony.
The room looked stunning dressed by Design Elegance, and with the sun beating through the window, everything was perfect!
I do love an emotional groom on entrance too. ????
Breadsall Priory Summer Wedding
The weather for Emily + Russ’ wedding couldn’t have been better. Beautiful blue skies and baking sun – it was too good!
From the drinks reception on the terrace, we headed under the trees to the shade for the family group shots, ahead of enjoying the stunning gardens with the Bride and Groom.
Having spent time with the couple on the build-up to the wedding day with the engagement shoot at Calke Abbey, they fell straight into the photos on the afternoon. I never like to take up too much of the wedding day for the portraits, and in just a few minutes we captured something extraordinary for Emily + Russ.
Breadsall Priory Wedding Breakfast
From the manor house, it was up to the Pavillion for the wedding breakfast and evening reception.
With the live music from Pete Hartley continuing throughout the meal and fabulous unique touches – including temporary tattoos and ‘fortune-telling-fish’ providing extra entertainment – everyone had a fantastic time!
Documentary Wedding Photography | Wedding Speeches
From the resounding performance of Riverdance – I do love that piece – it was time for one of my favourite parts of the wedding day, the speeches!
Capturing the speeches from the Father of the Bride, the Groom’s emotional and amusing speech, and the Best Man hitting the exact right notes, it was a fabulous period to capture. The reactions of the guests and the couple speak volumes!
And with that move, I was expecting a great party to start! Safe to say, I wasn’t disappointed!
As the guests relaxed on the terrace enjoying the views over the golf course, Adam Cooper was entertaining the guests with his close-up magic. It’s always great having a little theatre to add to the evening!
Creative Evening Portraits
As the golfers finished for the evening, the light was perfect for a few evening portraits of our bride and groom.
I adore the photos you can capture as the evening descends – absolutely stunning!
From a little fun with the golf clubs, the evening was disrupted by a false alarm on the fire alarms. However, with everyone gathered on the tee, it was the perfect opportunity for a big group photograph! ????
Capturing the Spirit of the Evening Reception
From the cake cutting, it was into the first dance to get the night started! What a night it was – these guys were set for one epic party!
As the dance floor cleared with the guests heading to the buffet, I was delighted to find quite possibly the best sky of the year to utilise to complete our story:
Emily and Russ, I had the best time with you all. From the morning preparations throughout the incredible day to the fabulous night. I could not be happier with how the story has come together, and I cannot wait to have the finished album in your hands!
