Earlier this month I had the pleasure of photographing one of the most relaxed and fun weddings of the year when Alexa and Rhys were married at the ever popular Sandon Hall in Stafford.
Having first met Alexa + Rhys at Sandon Hall’s bridal fayre around 12 months ago, then getting to spend some quality time with them both in Walthamstow a few weeks ago when we got together for their pre-wedding portrait session , I just knew the wedding was going to be pretty special, and it certainly did not disappoint!
From when I arrived to start the day with Rhys and the boys whilst they were finishing getting ready at the Dog and Doublet, it set the tone for the day, only added to when walking into the supremely calm atmosphere of the bedroom at Sandon Hall where Alexa and the girls were all getting ready.
Blessed with gorgeous weather the day could not have been better, and with guests enjoying the classic party games on the lawns, Chris Peskett keeping everyone entertained with his amazing close-up magic, Alexa + Rhys’ personal touches throughout the venue from the hand-made bunting and fabulous idea of hundreds of old family photos around the venue, only added to by the fabulous flowers (and trinkets!) from Lynne at Fine Flowers – and a very cool cake from Carole Gregory, the wedding at Sandon really was amazing.
Here’s a little look into Alexa + Rhys’ wedding.
All of the boys brushed up smart in their hired suits from Moss Bros, however, with his handmade suit from Cat and the Dandy of Saville Row, Rhys certainly owned the show!
With the fabulously relaxed atmosphere at Sandon Hall with Lisa (MUA) and Cheryl (Hairstylist) the early afternoon flowed perfectly with the gorgeous light bathing the bedroom at Sandon.
Alexa and Gwneth took the chance to go and check out the fabulously decorated hall at Sandon, before making a hasty retreat when seeing the boys arriving…
Alexa looked absolutely stunning in her gown from Amy Louise, and the reaction of her dad was simply priceless!
As a couple not overly keen on having their photographs taken, the value of the pre-wedding shoot shone through again, as with the time we spent together in Walthamstow we broke down any barriers of discomfort or nervousness, and as you can see from the wedding day, Alexa and Rhys really got into their portrait session around the grounds of Sandon, and they both look stunning doing so…
As always, one of my favourite times of the wedding day, the speeches – and as you can see from everyones reactions, they certainly didn’t disappoint!
Complete with the Best Man producing the ‘robot costume’ that Rhys was wearing when Alexa first met him when they were at Bestival five years ago…
Seeing this sign on the way back in to the saloon for the evening reception, I knew we were going to be in for a great night!
Thank you for inviting me to share and capture your Sandon Hall wedding photographs Alexa + Rhys – it really was a huge pleasure!
Cannot wait to sit down with you both and put the finishing touches to your album together now!!
